How it was made

03 · Story

The story behind the motion.

Hai Booca is a short motion film that explains how speech develops, through one simple and emotional story.

The challenge was to turn a complex healthcare process, from a child’s speech attempt to assessment and clinical understanding, into something that feels reassuring, human and easy to follow.

04 · Idea

From a complex process to a simple, human idea.

Speech development is a gradual journey. There is no single moment where progress suddenly appears.

That insight became the heart of the story: a child trying to say “kitten”, and with every attempt, a new part of the illustration appears.

05 · Plan

Turning the idea into a clear visual plan.

We mapped the story into a step-by-step sequence, defining the key scenes, dialogue and timing so that every moment had a purpose.

06 · World

Designing a world that feels warm and credible.

With the sequence in place, we developed the key frames, characters and visual elements that would later become motion.

The style had to feel friendly for children, reassuring for parents and credible for clinicians.

07 · Motion

From static frames to a living, expressive animation.

Once the visual direction was locked, we brought the frames to life. Every movement was designed to make progress visible, encourage the child and guide the viewer through the story.

08 · Process

From rough sketch to finished film.

Rough sketches tested how the message could unfold. A timed storyreel with temporary voice, music and sound set the pacing. Polished frames fixed the illustration style, type and colour.

Then the frames were animated and refined, and the final voiceover, music and sound design were mixed with the picture.
